Why do we celebrate Labor Day? Well the long story has to do with the labor movement of the 19th century. According to history.com, in the late 1800s during the height of the industrial revolution the average American worked 12 hour days, 7 days a week just to make ends meet. Labor unions became more vocal and prominent as they fought for better working conditions. It was during this movement that the idea of a “workingmen’s holiday” was born, which has now evolved into Labor Day; the first Monday of September.

Our modern interpretation of Labor Day boils down to celebrating our achievements in one last hooray before the summer ends.

Let us share with you our experience with Labor Day in New Hampshire, and how you can make the most of it.
